The story takes place in the fantasy world of Sunderaine, caught in an endless war between Light and Darkness (elves versus orcs, wizards versus common sense, dragons versus everyone).
The protagonist is a lonely and hapless orphan who is half dwarf and half orc: D’Orc. A troubling apocalyptic prophecy hangs over him, designating him as the destroyer of the world, destined to bring an end to that eternal conflict. For this reason, creatures from every faction—humans, elves, goblins, giants, and monsters of all kinds—want him dead. D’Orc travels armed only with a magical, sentient, and strangely violent shield that craves combat, finding himself in the midst of crazy and grotesque situations (including a chicken-headed ghost).
